Should I still link from "semi relevant" pages?

The example here might be a link from Flightmapping.com, which is a travel website, to a website containing information about credit cards, on the basis that using credit cards abroad might be of interest to people searching for

Teoma uses a community-based indexing system, which would view a link from a flight finding site as irrelevant, as it is not within the financial services community. However, Google would see that link as perfectly relevant, although not as valid as a link from a financial services website, because the content of that page is about flights rather than being about credit cards. If there is any doubt as to whether search engines might consider an action appropriate, it is always worth applying the "Ken Evoy" rule, namely that if it looks ok for human viewers, search engines are unlikely to have a problem with it.
