Is there anything I can do to speed up the rate at which new pages I add to my site get indexed?

Build as many inbound links as fast as possible every time you launch a new site. If you are adding new pages or folders within that site, it is essential to make sure they are properly linked from the homepage. If your site structure is several levels deep, the easiest way to ensure a new section is indexed fast is to have a section at the bottom of your homepage highlighting new developments within your web site. Once the spiders find the index page for any newly completed section, they should be able to find the rest of the content within that section fairly rapidly.
